Locating the cocktail and scaling-relation breaking effects of high-entropy alloy catalysts on the electrocatalytic volcano plot

High entropy alloys (HEAs) have been the star materials in electrocatalysis research recent years. One of their key features is greatly increased multiplicity active sites compared to conventional catalytic materials. This stimulates a cocktail effect and scaling-relation breaking effect, results improved activity. However, HEAs also poses new problems for mechanistic studies. apparent problem inapplicability HEA catalysts currently most popular study method, which uses electrocatalytic theoretical framework (ETF) based on computational hydrogen electrode (CHE). The ETF single adsorption energy represent catalyst, i.e., catalyst represented by ‘point’ volcanic relationship. It naturally does not involve hence loses brevity expressing catalysis. paper attempts solve this inapplicability. Based fact that distribution close normal distribution, mean variance are introduced as descriptors ETF, replacing original energy. A quantitative relationship between braking effects established.
